BRIDGING YOU TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Can I file for bankruptcy more than once?

Transcription:
00:04 hi my name is Robert Geller and I am a
00:07 consumer bankruptcy lawyer in the Tampa
00:10 Bay area and today I want to speak to
00:13 you about whether you can file
00:14 bankruptcy more than once and the answer
00:17 is yes you can and depends on which kind
00:20 of bankruptcy you’re going to file if
00:22 you filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy you
00:26 cannot file another chapter 7 bankruptcy
00:29 for a period of eight years from the
00:32 time you file the last one if you want
00:35 to file a chapter 13 bankruptcy you can
00:39 file it after four years of getting your
00:43 chapter seven bankruptcy discharge or
00:46 two years after getting your last
00:49 chapter 13 bankruptcy the other
00:53 important thing to note is there are
00:55 some times that you may want to file a
00:58 chapter 13 bankruptcy even if you are
01:01 not looking for a discharge for example
01:05 you just got out of a chapter 13
01:09 bankruptcy a year ago and you’ve been
01:13 out of work for five months and you are
01:17 behind on your mortgage payment and you
01:20 want to catch up on your mortgage
01:21 payment maybe there are some other
01:24 reasons that you may want to file a
01:26 chapter 13 and you can still file your
01:30 chapter 13 bankruptcy and catch up on
01:32 your payment’s and maybe deal with the
01:35 other debt by paying a fact that you
01:37 have incurred since your last discharge
01:39 so there are reasons to file a chapter
01:42 13 bankruptcy sometimes even without a
01:45 bankruptcy discharge if you need more
01:48 information about bankruptcy click on
01:50 the link and we’ll be glad to provide
01:51 you with more information my name is
01:54 Robert Keller and I want to help you
01:57 build a bridge to a brighter future
02:00 by filing bankruptcy thank you
