BRIDGING YOU TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Couple pays off thousands of dollars in credit card debt

It seemed liked an impossible feat, but they did it. They paid off nearly $50,000 in credit card debt despite many obstacles. Even though they certainly qualified to file bankruptcy, this couple opted not to do so. However, even though it was difficult for them, their circumstances allowed them to the freedom to pay off their debt.

This is not always the case for many families in Florida. Granted, this man had two bouts of cancer and his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but that doesn't mean that a debt repayment plan will work for everyone because it worked for this couple. They are an inspiration, for sure, but they may no longer be the norm for people with thousands of dollars of debt in our country.

The recession left many people struggling to make ends meet in a way that hasn't been felt by many people since the Great Depression. Despite making a concerted effort to handle ever mounting debt on their own, many families are only getting deeper into debt. In these cases, filing for bankruptcy could be a viable way to stop the downward spiral some Florida families are in when it comes to their debt.

The couple that paid off their credit card debt got into debt, at least in part, because the man was told he wasn't going to live much longer. Clearly, the debt was the least of his worries at that time. For many families, debt is a major worry that causes undue stress and tension in their everyday lives. Bankruptcy is often seen as a responsible solution to help provide meaningful debt relief while helping to provide a viable means for a return to financial security.
