ROBERT GELLER: I've been handling bankruptcy cases since 1991. I have filed approximately 3,000 cases since then. Because of my experience, I am able to meet with a client in approximately a half an hour in my office and tell them what I can do for them, how the process works and how I can create a better future for them.
The most common circumstance in which somebody would choose to file a Chapter 7 as opposed to a Chapter 13 is if they're looking to get rid of some, if not all, of their debt and they're looking for a fresh start in a relatively quick period of time.
Many of the clients who come in our office who we interview and meet with are threatened by creditors and harassed by creditors. By filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, we can stop the creditor harassment.
It's our firm's policy that either myself or the other attorney in our firm will personally meet with the client and be with them every stage of the process.
If you're experiencing financial problems, it is very important that you speak with an attorney who knows bankruptcy law, who can help you and who can explain the process.
Bankruptcy can be a complicated process in which if you do not use an experienced bankruptcy attorney, you may not be able to take advantage of all the allowed exemptions for you to keep your property.
